DCNP strives to restore the land to native plants -- ones that naturally evolved in Central Indiana over thousands of years. Please see the park's Native species policy for more detail.
As volunteers plant natives and remove invasive plant species, we are assembling lists* of the incredible variety of species found at the park. DCNP is becoming one of the most botanically diverse pieces of land in the state, and we hope, a model for other projects. There are already more than 280 plant species on these lists!
Follow along with our volunteer scientific experts and plant enthusiasts by using these lists to identify species in the park. Please let us know if you find others to add!
